HIV/AIDS

HIV was first identified in the early 1980s and is a virus that can lead to AIDS over time if left untreated. It only affects humans and is spread through six specific body fluids: blood, semen, pre-ejaculate, vaginal fluids, rectal (anal) fluids, and breast milk.

While there’s no cure yet, HIV can be effectively managed with daily medication. These treatments protect your immune system and also prevent transmission to others.
